More than 100,000 people joined in the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations at the open house hosted by Prime Minister Najib Razak and cabinet ministers in Seri Perdana today.
More than 100,000 people joined in the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations at the open house hosted by Prime Minister Najib Razak and cabinet ministers in Seri Perdana today.
Najib, clad in a brick-red baju Melayu, and his wife Rosmah Mansor, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Noorainee Abdul Rahman, and the cabinet ministers began receiving guests from noon.
The heat of the midday sun did not melt the enthusiasm of the people who waited patiently in the queue to exchange Aidilfitri greetings with the prime minister, deputy prime minister and the other ministers.
Guests, including foreign diplomats, political party leaders, tourists and locals, were served a variety of Malaysian delicacies and entertained with performances in the spirit of 1Malaysia.
In their eagerness to celebrate the occasion with the nation's leader, the crowd began gathering at the Seri Perdana foyer, an hour earlier.
Even cloudy skies in the morning did not dampen their spirits as visitors in long queues waited to extend Hari Raya greetings to Najib and Rosmah, and the cabinet ministers

Among dignitaries who turned up at the event were former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and former deputy prime minister Musa Hitam.
For a group of special guests, Rosmah gave them a pleasant surprise when she rendered a few songs.
Several local artistes joined in the celebrations, as well, including Dafi, Nubhan and Aisyah.
