Najib takes the fight to Anwar's home turf
'The House of Razak is weak and its downfall imminent. So Najib has taken his fight into his adversary's stronghold. Futile?'
Gov't seems to have a fixation on me, says Anwar
FairPlay: Actually it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why Permatang Pauh is chosen. BN is taking the fight to the enemy.
Following the BN's debacle in handling Bersih 2.0 and the recent survey by Merdeka Centre, Umno needs to gauge the 'support' of the rakyat before deciding on the date for GE13.
However, after more than 50 years of 'more of the same', change is inevitable. The only question is whether change in the form of baby steps or giant strides.
Anonymous_4031: Having the national-level Aidilfitri open house in Anwar Ibrahim's constituency is an open admission that the future PM will also be from there.
By holding the open house there, it saves Anwar from holding an open house himself. He should thank the BN government for its initiative in doing so. All residents in that area should come out in full force to celebrate such an auspicious occasion.
Anwar should thank Information Minister Dr Rais Yatim for suggesting such a venue. Is Rais acknowledging the importance of PKR leader?
Docs: The House of Razak is weak and its downfall imminent. So PM Najib Razak has taken his fight into his adversary's (Anwar is just one of many) stronghold. Futile? Well, it has certainly rattled Anwar.
Tkc: Instead of subjecting the whole nation to a never-ending feud between two men, I suggest that Najib and Anwar get into a boxing ring so that they can pummel each other to their heart's content.
Geronimo: These bozos always have a seasonal fixation. First, they were hell-bent on going after Selangor exco Teresa Kok on the azan issue.
After things have quieted down, the next fixation was Bukit Lanjan state representative Elizabeth Wong and there was no let-up on the issue on her "immorality". Photos of her went viral in cyberspace.
Then there was a lull and before you know it, the fixation has switched to Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching for her attire in mosque/surau.
Day after day, the poor YB was hammered left, right and centre by Umno and Utusan Malaysia about her speaking at a surau and doing exercises with the Muslims in her constituency in the mosque compound wearing tight clothes. For a moment, I was sure someone in Utusan was smitten by her looks.
Next on the agenda, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. For weeks, there were photos of him performing the slaughtering of a cow during Hari Korban when it was actually performed by ousted Perak MB Nizar Jamaluddin.
This was followed by the marginalising of the Malays in the state to turning the country into a Christian state. And after DSAI (Anwar), who's next? Ah, Mat Sabu!
Kit P: Of all the places in the country, they want to hold the event in Permatang Pauh? I'm sure it will be a heavily politicised event, detracting from the spirit of Hari Raya.
Anwar is "damaged goods" if you read the MSM (mainstream media) spin, but it looks like he still haunts their nightmares.
Lets be fair: This is fantastic. Anwar should be present for the event along with his supporters. All residents should take advantage of the goodies to be handed out too.
If someone should put money into your account, are you to blame? Do have a good time and it's your right to be there.
Anonymous_5fb: Anwar, go to the open house even if there is no invitation. Go as a member of the rakyat. Open houses don't need any invitation. Let's see if they will allow you in.
Anakpulau: All Penangnites should attend this open house as our tax money is being used to finance this event. You need not be thankful to the PM or Rais as they did not use their own private funds. Just go and eat, and get ‘duit raya'.
Onyourtoes: Some people can only do two things - threaten people or buy them over. Well, they can't arrest and put all the people in jail. And they can't buy over all the people too. Good try if they think they can buy over all the people in Permatang Pauh.
Swipenter: "Anwarphobia" - that aptly and concisely describes Umno's relationship with Anwar. It seems like Anwar is bigger than Umno.
Black Mamba: Pakatan is trailing in popularity against Najib, with or without Anwar. For BN to hold a Hari Raya open house in Permatang Pauh speaks of high flattery for Anwar.
With Anwar heading Pakatan, eventually - if all ill-conceived court charges and slanderous lies fail - Pakatan will be an enormous force to pit against BN in the next general election.
Clever Voter: Some needs to remind the host that money and food, while are helpful, that alone are not enough to change opinions of people. Politicians are bankrupt of ideas. In fact, they continue to regard people as gullible and easily influenced.
So in the final analysis, here's food for thought - some day, we shall remember this famous place, where Umno meets its Waterloo.
Kuduka: Good idea - all should go to the event wearing yellow Bersih 2.0 T-shirt. See how many they can arrest.
