MCA's latest study loan, the 1MCA Education Loan with an initial fund of RM30 million, is now open for application by eligible students.
MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek said the loan, which was a collaboration between MCA and Koperasi Jayadiri Malaysia Berhad (Kojadi), hoped to provide the loan to 150 undergraduate and 50 post-graduate students.
"MCA is committed to providing affordable and quality tertiary education to all, regardless of race," he said when launching the study loan at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur today.
Students pursuing undergraduate programmes could apply for up to RM30,000 of the study loan and up to RM50,000 for post-graduate programmes approved by the Higher Education Ministry, he said.
He said the MCA would also absorb the five percent interest for the first five years upon completion of studies.
Chua said a five-member committee had been set up to process the applications, of whom, three would be from Kojadi while the MCA would be represented by MCA secretary-general Kong Cho Ha and Deputy Higher Education Minister Hou Kok Chung.
