A pro-Pakatan NGO today sent a letter seeking an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin over a blog article that insults Islam.

pkr congress 271110 fariz musa Jingga 13 coordinator Fariz Musa said the article was rude and disrespectful by "insulting and swearing at" the name of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad, as well as twisted facts about Islam.

"The blog has gone too far and challenges the sensitivities of Muslims," Fariz ( left ) said after presenting their letter at the Istana Negara, accompanied by 20 supporters.

Jingga 13 is following up on an earlier action by the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (Abim), which in May filed a police report on the article for insulting and defiling the image and sanctity of Islam.

Abim said the makcikhajjahsittalwuzara.wordpress.com blog and a Facebook page bearing the name ‘Makcik Hajjah Sitt Al Wuzara', had posted content that was provocative and clearly had ill intent.

Aside from abrasive entries that insulted Islam and the prophet, the blog is said to have also posted pictures of animals, a shark and scantily-clad Western singers superimposed on pictures of the Kaabah.

They seek the King's intervention

Fariz said the reason they were seeking an audience was to inform the King of the issue and ask that he intervenes as the issue had worsened, without any action taken on the blog.

The letter requests that the King takes the necessary action to "save the faith of Muslims", and uphold the dignity and sanctity of Islam as the country's official religion.

Fariz also slammed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the police for twiddling their fingers despite numerous police reports having been lodged over the article.

However, he saved the vitriol for Jakim, which he said refused to receive Jingga 13's memorandum on the issue last Sept 8, on the excuse that the department had no power to act on the blog in question.

"The main objective of Jakim's formation by the Council of Rulers is to uphold the sanctity of Islam," Fariz pointed out.
