Five Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) supreme council members will face disciplinary action for allegedly failing to adhere to party’s rules.

They are senior vice-president Peter Nansian who is also Tasik Biru assemblyperson, Marudi assemblyperson Sylvester Entri Muran, Bekenu assemblyperson Rosey Yunus, Danau assemblyperson Paulus Palu Gumbang and Member of Parliament for Mas Gading Dr Tiki Lafe.

NONE “The other supreme council members and I have been patient enough for the past two years and it is up to the disciplinary committee to determine the punishment for them,” SPDP president William Mawan Ikom ( left ) told reporters after chairing the party’s supreme council meeting in Kuching today.

Mawan, who is also state Social Development and Urbanisation Minister, said he was awaiting a report from the disciplinary committee chaired by Prof Dr Shafiq Abdullah before pursuing the matter with the state and central Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.

On SPDP’s preparations for the next general election, Mawan said three incumbents, namely MP for Baram Datuk Jacob Dungau Sangan (deputy international trade and industry minister), MP for Saratok Jelaing Mersat (deputy transport minister) and MP for Bintulu Tiong King Sing would defend their seats.

On the Mas Gading parliamentary seat, Mawan said Tiki had yet to inform him whether he wanted to defend the seat.
