Anonymously: PM Najib Razak must rid the BN coalition of all those stricken with the ‘syok sendiri' syndrome.

There are plenty of them, at all levels. This disease, which had the effect of making the rakyat feel that they are treated as being stupid, had boomerang to hurt BN very badly in the last GE.

At the current rate, it looks likely to haunt BN again unless the PM deals with these sycophants immediately. Otherwise, more in the BN coalition will end up as casualties in the next GE.

Vijay47: Najib would have us believe that such 'syok sendiri' reports were the effort of the media itself and against Umno's better judgement.

Even in making this speech, Najib seems unable and unwilling to face the truth. What was reported and indeed what was not, were all in accordance with Umno's demands. Never in the history of the nation did this vile party acknowledge or apologise for any mistake, lapse in judgement or wrongdoing.

Every single unpalatable act was brushed with the convenient justification that it was ‘in the interests of the rakyat' or that contrary reports were the work of a jealous opposition. The criminal abuse of the ISA, especially by that evil excuse for a politician, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, is still being defended.

It is only through the unrelenting efforts of the people that the ISA is promised to be repealed. Not because that would be the only just thing to do - to make amends for an injustice - but to save Umno's hide.

The truth is out there, Najib. Face it. It might yet set you free.

Mirror thyself: These division leaders have to put up 'buttered up favourable reports' with the hope that they can be considered as candidates for the next GE. In reality, none is willing to tell the truth and shame the devils.

Hello: It's about time Umno faces reality and not delude itself. Its leaders realise they have a high possibility of losing government if they do not implement the reforms demanded by the rakyat.

That's why Najib has come out with the announcement to repeal the ISA. Whether they will heed the rakyat's demand for human rights, transparency and honest government is left to be seen.

This announcement might just be something to mislead the people so that they can continue in government. Once re-elected, Umno (please note I did not mention, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP and all the mosquitoe parties) might throw away Najib's Malaysia Day speech and we are back to status quo.

Fillio: Surprisingly, Najib seems to have awaken. I guess he and his Umno peers have been living in the culture of spinning all these years, and it must surely be very hurtful for Najib to realise that truth has no place in Umno's culture.

But finally, Najib who has the most to lose, must somehow bite the bullet.

Anak JB : I remember former Selangor MB Mohd Khir Toyo said they would have a clean sweep just before the last election. This man spent his time indulging in building his palace and trips to Disneyland and was so out of touch. It is what you called a Mickey Mouse leadership.

Disgusted: It will be a good idea for Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat not to dissolve the state assembly in line with Najib's call for snap elections before 2013.

After all, they have until 2013 to do so. Besides, they can use their limited resources and put to full effect their election machinery and just concentrate on contesting in parliamentary elections without the distraction of state elections.

Another issue is, if the phantom voters and illegally registered foreigners issue in the electoral roll still persists and is not fully resolved, the Pakatan state governments should stay put and not go for another election.

Strategy wise it is good to take the fight to them as they want to fight on an uneven ground, so Pakatan has to be wise to overcome them using new tactics.

Perhaps in concentrating in fewer areas, Pakatan can be more effective in overthrowing BN in Parliament and the other states which are under their rule. Pakatan should better adopt Sun Tzu's ‘Art Of War'.

Lynn: It's truly sad when the prime minister of our country thinks that by saying words like ‘bro' and being cool will win over the young people.

He doesn't realise that the people would much rather have a government that's not only intelligent and professional but most importantly, honest.
