Two Indian warships arrived in Malaysia today for a three-day goodwill visit to promote ties between the countries' navies.

The two vessels - the destroyer INS RANA and missile corvette INS KIRCH - docked at Port Klang, west of the capital Kuala Lumpur, the official Bernama news agency said.

The visit is part of the Indian navy's goodwill call on ports of friendly countries in the region, it said.

"The visit of the Indian naval ships will serve as an important step in the direction of establishing beneficial mutual relations between the two armed forces," the Indian High Commission said in a statement.

Bernama said both ships belong to the Indian navy's Eastern Fleet. - AFP
