The Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has confirmed that the dialogue involving saying the syahadah (pronouncement of faith) in the Hantu Bonceng movie does not make fun of Prophet Muhammad, after its officers watched the movie.

Film Censorship Board (LPF) chairperson Raja Azahar Raja Abdul Manap said in the part where comedian-actor Zizan Razak was warded in hospital after an accident in which his female pillion rider was killed, Zizan uttered the syahadah each time the young woman's apparition appeared.

"Each time he says the syahadah , there is a pause.

hantu bonceng the movie "So, the issue of making fun of the syahadah does not arise as the word 'syaitan' (satan) is not included in one breath," he said in a statement issued yesterday.

The sentence goes, "Asyhadu alla Ilaha illa Allah, waasyhadu anna Muhammadar..... syaitan."

Raja Azahar said the censorship board had always scrutinised films before making any decision.

"We have always paid attention to four elements, namely public security and order, religion, socio-cultural aspects, and ethics and etiquette.

"In the case of this movie, the board had paid close attention to the religious aspect."

Various quarters including PAS Youth and some blogs have claimed that the Film Censorship Board had been careless , resulting in Hantu Bonceng to be approved for screening.
