your say 'Umno has verbally abused MCA, dragged its face in the dirt and openly ridiculed it to the point that it has no dignity left.'

MCA, Gerakan warn Umno against hudud

Cala: MCA chief Dr Chua Soi Lek, you sounded hollow. Your manner of argument on the subject is illogical. Why?

It is illogical because one does not judge a person by him expressing his intention. One should be judged whether a person walks the talk. So where is the talk and where is the walk?

Hudud law or not is an old topic, a subject to be thrashed out by the Pakatan Rakyat coalition in the years to come. We may never know the final outcome.

But we can say with certainty that MCA has been mute about the sinful nature of the regime and is a partaker of policy deliberation and implementation.

PAS may be bad (emphasis may be) in this aspect of the proposed hudud, but MCA is certainly bad as it is part of the "rule by thieves".

DontPlayGod: All this shows up one thing, and that is, the decades of sending Malay students to study in the madrasah of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan is reaping its rewards.

These students are now political leaders in Umno and PAS, and some in PKR as well. And many more are helming government departments. Some have become ‘Little Napoleons'. Many have become mosques clerics, imams and muftis.

How else could the Islamic fanatics become so influential. Another 20 or so years down the road, MCA, Gerakan, and DAP will just have to shut their traps and fold up.

Malaysia will, by then, become a full-fledged Islamic state, thanks to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who asked the Malays to turn their "production factory" full on to increase their population percentage.

As for the non-Malays, my advice to them is start planning to leave.

Docs: CSL (Chua Soi Lek) is talking nonsense as usual. Umno has verbally abused MCA, dragged its face in the dirt and openly ridiculed it to the point that the party has no dignity left.

The Chinese seeing this and have assumed that MCA is just another Umno ‘mandor' and have stopped supporting it, resulting in the party being at the verge of being wiped out in GE 13.

Still MCA sticks by Umno and the BN through all these abuses. Seriously, does anyone really believe that the MCA is going to part ways with the BN should Umno implement hudud law?

Probably, if hudud law is implemented CSL will be the first person to don a ‘burka'.

SusahKes: Looking at Chua's response, one realises that he is not interested much beyond political rhetoric.

If becoming a high-income nation could be thwarted by the laws in place, then he needs to go over to Singapore and ask why is that despite being a strict legal society - one that even canes graffiti vandals - they remain a favourite destination of FDI? And high FDI contributes to a high-income nation.

Why does Chua turn a blind eye to Umno's addiction to corruption, social injustice and blatant use of racist policies to divide and rule? Aren't these the components that keep us from becoming a high-income nation?

Malaysians who leave the country keep on quoting the above impediments as their reason for quitting the country. The recent disclosure of Arniza Khairani Mohd Jamil, whose application to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) was rejected on the grounds of her race, compounds the issue even further.

These are the issues that MCA should be holding Umno accountable for, instead trying to look like ‘jaguh kampung'.

Anonymous: I still think a religious man taking the helm of this country would still be better than the corrupt BN government.

Kgen: MCA will walk out if hudud is implemented? Not likely. They will continue to bootlick Umno for their personal gain. If you say DAP will walk out of Pakatan if hudud is implemented I would believe it. Not the castrated MCA.

Anonymous_4031: Why should MCA threaten to part ways with Umno if hudud law is implemented? Why should MCA earlier threaten not to take a ministerial post if it loses many seats at the next general election? Why wait for the next polls?

The 2008 results have indicated that the people are not happy with MCA's performance. Leave now, to show your sincerity. Note also that in the 1969 election, MCA fared badly; and its leaders opted to stay out of the cabinet. Why can't the present leaders follow their former leaders?

Please do not use threats to hoodwink the people. Similarly, Umno, PKR and PAS should not use hudud law as a political weapon to score points among Malay voters. If they are serious about it, then they should sit down and agree to pass a bill on hudud law, and allow an option for non-Muslims who wish to follow this law.

There is no use trying to be more religious than the other. The test of the pudding is in the eating.

Ben-ghazi: That's because MCA had thieves in its fold, who are also Muslims who are bent on stealing public and private money.

Under hudud, and if proven in court with proper witnesses, and the theft is not done due to necessity like dire poverty and hunger, but out of greed and desire to enrich oneself, the criminal's hand will be severed.

Wira: If the time comes when Muslims in this country want to implement hudud law, there is nothing anyone can do about it because non-Muslims are a small minority.

Years of silent participation by MCA/Gerakan in Selangor DUN (state assembly) resulting in gradual erosion of civil liberties and culminating in the Jais (Selangor Islamic Affairs Department) raid on DUMC (Damansara Utama Methodist Church) is a proof of the ineptness of MCA in stopping Umno.

Lim Chong Leong: Any law, be it hudud or civil law, if implemented properly and fairly, can and will work for everyone. As it is, even civil laws in 1Malaysia have two standards - one for Umno and the other for others.

Chua Soi Lek, under Umno, what is so different if hudud was introduced? Today, we have the syariah laws that often conflict with our civil laws and often infringing unto non-Muslims' civil rights like this current case of Lawrence Selvananthan .

Pakatan via PAS is brave enough to call it hudud while BN calls it syariah, but opens it to abuse and oppression. Now Chua said MCA would leave BN if hudud was introduced. But when Perkasa coughs, you quake in fear. That is your style. We know that.

Joe Lee: 'MCA, Gerakan warn Umno against hudud' - wrong headline. How can two lapdogs warn their big master Umno?
