Undilah video 'not yet approved' by film censors

Bender: The ‘Undilah' video is what should be considered as a ‘cool' way of reaching out to the nation's youth. The beat is nice and contemporary and the 1Malaysia feel is genuine and sincerely portrayed.

This video is about glorifying and celebrating the people of Malaysia (the rakyat), not one snob-nose sloganeering aristocrat.

Democracy: If aired on national TV, the video will reach all corners of Malaysia right down to the poor with no computer or Internet access.

That's not good for BN as these are the people they have been lying to all these years. For them to hear Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (a BN notable) that Malaysia has problems is taboo.

Retnam: This is the best video I have ever seen. Razaleigh's words are so moving. I thank Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) from the bottom of my heart for bringing this video to my attention.

If they did not ban it, I would have never known it existed. Congratulations to everyone in the video for a wonderful performance.

Docs: I just watched the ‘not yet approved' Undilah video and I know why Umno-BN may not be happy about it.

The video showing Razaleigh saying Malaysia has "banyak masalah" (many problems) may not sit well with Umno-BN.

After all, Umno-BN has been portraying Malaysia as a fantastic state under its rule and thus Razaleigh is contradicting its narrative of an utopian society.

Kgen: Does a public service message need to be approved by the Film Censorship Board? This is news to me. What about the racially derogatory Hari Raya message produced by 8TV? Was that approved too?

Wira: I bet the video will be approved for screening, if ever, after the next general elections.

Even then, TV3 and other TV stations are full of Rosmah with her motherly or granny-tone advices. Are those still not enough that she wants to appear in 'Undilah' too?

Mystery ban on Siasat's Chinese edition episode

Ferdtan: Just imagine, 21 percent of Sabahans never receive education. After 50 years of Merdeka, with free education provided, why are these children not educated?

The reason is that they are so poor that they cannot afford the cost of transport, school books and various small fees. Instead of Putra 1Malaysia organising aid missions to Somalia, why not help your brothers in Sabah with your abundant fund?

Don't you know charity starts at home? Is it that charity at home is not as glamourous as going half way round the world to save some souls?

BTN: What can I say about the Sabahans? They prefer to suffer and let their children rot rather than say "no" to BN. When the time comes to vote for a new beginning, they are easily swayed by selfish politicians.

Anonymous: Let's get something clear. It's not that the rural folks don't want change. They are in a difficult situation. Do and be damned, don't do and also be damned.

They are in such a poor situation that given 50 bucks by a dirty politician means that they probably can feed their family for a period of time. How does a poor family man balance the future against some cash money that can help them tide through their difficulties?

It's quite easy for us urban/semi-urban folk to wax endlessly without addressing the root cause. If Pakatan cannot take over government, these poor folks will remain at the mercy and vagaries of BN. What would you do if you are in such a situation?

Paul S: I am a Sarawakian working in the peninsula. I truly appreciate the concern some of you have shown about how the Malaysian education system has really failed the children in these two states.

Truly, that's what has happened. I was born in a small town and lived in a longhouse. Who really cared whether we went to school and how we lived? Through the years, thank God that some like me and others are able to graduate from the university through our own effort, with no sponsors and no scholarships. It was very hard, but we are glad we did it.

And now is our 'time' to 'pay back' what we suffered throughout the years. But we cannot do it alone. We try very hard, but we need more support to educate our people.

The older generation - those over 35 years of age - is not well-educated, and they can still be fooled by the monetary temptation offered by BN. Please understand this.

X-Files: That is the sad truth about Sabah. The last time when I was there, six months ago, many places don't have water and power. Generators are still widely used. Many kids don't go to school.

I bought some corn for RM10. When I gave the sellers the RM10, they were extremely happy. Then I bought a little more and gave them RM50. You should see the look on their faces. They were extremely thankful for the purchase.

This is how poor and how neglected the Sabahans are by their masters in Putrajaya. You don't see much help from MPs Bung Moktar Radin, Pairin Kitingan, Maximus Ongkili or see them voice out for them.

BetulNya: If Sabah is so poor, then how come Chief Minister Musa Aman is so rich?

Lim Chong Leong: In 1Malaysia, everyone is well-educated, rich, owns a Proton or two, can speak English but prefers to speak Bahasa Kebangsaan, we were never colonised and all foreigners bow to ‘ketuanan Melayu'.

But in real Malaysia, we can't even speak of those of do not get education.
