Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said believes that PAS and DAP will not leave the opposition pact over the implementation of hudud law.     

He said the controversy over hudud was just a political gimmick which PAS was fond of creating, while both parties needed each other to fish for votes and win the coming general election.     

"When PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was Terengganu Menteri Besar, he had stated that the hudud law was not a priority, but it's strange that the issue is raised again now," he said after handing out e-books to several primary school pupils at the Tepoh state constituency hall, here, today.     

Ahmad said the controversy was also aimed at diverting attention from the problem faced by PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu who was being widely condemned since making his statement on the Bukit Kepong incident.     

On the e-book scheme, he said the state government had given out 95,000 e-books to primary school pupils since 2007.     

"We have spent about RM100 million on the e-books, and our students have improved their academic performance by using them," he added.
