The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has completed its internal investigation against three of its officers accused of robbing a money changer at KLIA.

In a statement today, the MACC said its disciplinary board met today and ruled that the offence has been classified as serious in accordance with Rule 37 of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

“The (internal) investigations and decision does not involve or affect the police investigations,” the statement said.

The trio had allegedly robbed a money changer of RM900,000 on Sept 15 and have been currently relieved of their duties pending a police probe.

They comprised an acting assistant commissioner, a senior assistant superintendent and an assistant superintendent.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar announced that the police has recovered the loot taken by three, but declined to confirm the amount.

“Investigations are proceeding smoothly and there are still some issues which need to be resolved, including tracking down two men who are believed to be linked to the case,” he said in Kuala Lumpur.

He said that the three officers have had their remand orders, which expired today, extended for a further three days.
