Tkc: One of Bersih 2.0's demands is ‘free and fair access to media'. If you cannot even allow a bi-partisan video asking people to register to vote, what is the chance of Bersih being heard?

The government of the day should stop insulting our intelligence by proposing the formation of a PSC (parliamentary select committee) to discuss Bersih's demands.

Ferdtan: There is nothing wrong with the 'Undilah' video, certainly not with its content or message. It is not totally unexpected for Minister of Information, Communication and Culture Rais Yatim to once again nonplus Malaysians with his objection to the clip.

The reason for such an idiotic excuse that it has anti-establishment subliminal messages is laughable.

Is it just because opposition personalities, like iconic Nurul Izzah Anwar, young intellectuals Tony Pua and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and PAS MP Khalid Samad appearing, together with the BN leaders?

What subliminal message? Does the video have satanic hidden messages such as was popularly said of rock songs in earlier decades? Has the ministry found some satanic 'backmasking' that we don't know about?

Lets Be Fair: Rais Yatim, could you be more explicit in clarifying "offended certain segments"? It seems like you are profusely protective of this ‘certain segments' of society.

Josephine: I think anything to do with Pakatan Rakyat is offensive to the government. The minster has forgotten that he is a minister of the government of Malaysia, and not wear the BN hat when carrying out his duties. That's why we have to undi-lah baik baik .

KJ Lim: Our government leaders always act like they are the parents of 28 million Malaysians. Only they know what can be said, what can be shared, what can be seen because to them all Malaysians are kids.

Abil: Najib has just recently announced that the ISA will be repealed and now the government won't even allow an innocuous video asking the citizens to vote. How do you expect the rakyat to believe that the ISA will be really be abolished?

Lynn: The only offensive thing from the perspective of the government is that they didn't complete the sentence to say "undilah BN".

MichaelCelo: If Pete Teo had the video titled ‘Undilah Barisan', he may even get the title ‘Tan Sri' bestowed onto him, and enough monetary grants to last him a lifetime or two.

PAS: K'tan people voted for hudud

Boiling Mud: There is no denying the Kelantanese's ardent support for PAS and time and again have voted the party in to govern the state to the dismay of BN.

However to extrapolate their support to say that their support "by default supports the Syariah Criminal Enactment 1993", isn't it a tad too presumptuous? Perhaps the way to go is to have a referendum in the state on hudud implementation.

Proarte: The people voted for BN for the last 54 years, but does that mean they voted for the ISA too?

Oral sex is widely practised in Malaysia, yet Section 377 of the Penal Code criminalises it. Did the rakyat vote for this then in the last elections?

This argument has not merit. Hudud is unconstitutional and the debate should end there.

Hope: Kelantan voted for hudud and that is great. However, the people of Malaysia voted for one constitution and one law, and it's not hudud.

So for PAS to say such things is nonsense and simply a ploy to keep Kelantan. CM Lim Guan Eng does the same for Penang, he wants to keep it as it is a DAP outpost just like Kelantan is to PAS.

1M: I agree that the Muslims should be allowed to implement hudud if this is generally their wish.

Having said that, in the spirit of democracy, we should first of all settle the issue of personal religious freedom. Is every citizen, including Muslims in Kelantan, allowed to choose his own religion?

When a Muslim decides that he wants to leave the Muslim faith, and having gone through every process of rehabilitation, is he allowed to choose to come out of the Muslim faith, and hence to be no more under the hudud law?

I know it sounds sensitive, but the implementation of hudud itself is a serious matter that touches many sensitive nerves.

SusahKes: PAS, hold your horses. Don't get restless or impatient just because Mahathir Mohamad and Umno nudged you guys. You may say that Kelantan people wish for hudud; but at this stage in Malaysian politics, whatever one party does - especially in matters of religion - has ramifications nationwide.

How do you think the people of Sabah and Sarawak are going to read into this? Don't you think MCA and The Star is going to go to town? Not that they haven't tried; they are already hurling much dirt at Pakatan. Why don't Pakatan wait until they have won the federal government (of course, this is easier said than done).

Why not wait until the two-party system takes full flight. Then you can address the hudud issue. Unless of course, all this is part of the larger political wayang kulit (shadow play) being played out now just to win Malay votes?

Mohd: Everyone can give their constructive views but at the end of the day, the majority will rule. Otherwise, we are a hypocritical democracy just like what the ruling government practices.

Bar: Kelantan no jurisdiction to enact hudud law

Fairplayer: The explanation by the Bar Council should put hudud to rest. Let's move on, on how Pakatan can wrest Putrajaya from Umno/BN. I am more interested in a new, free, fair and clean government, hudud or otherwise.

Ksn: I hope that with this explanation, this unnecessary and silly argument about hudud will be put to an end. It was immature and uncalled for to start with, considering the present political climate in the country.

Argonist: Please, let's stop wasting time discussing the improbables. This was already explained in previous years by the Bar. Now is the time for the opposition to consolidate its coalition and plan how it should conduct its campaign and win the next GE.

Onyourtoes: We cannot begin the debate by stating that hudud is God's law and therefore unchallengeable.

Even if it is your personal conviction and belief, you can not carry this notion into the public domain. Your belief is just your belief, no one else.
