A delegate at the MCA Youth's annual general assembly lambasted the states under Pakatan (PAS-DAP-PKR) rule saying they were neglecting the welfare of the Chinese community.

Kelantan delegate Liew Koon Yan, when debating MCA Youth chief's policy address at Wisma MCA here today, said they were denying the Chinese community's right to get land for building schools and cited Kelantan as one such state.

"In Perak, with the help of the MCA, private Chinese schools received allocations totaling RM2.5 million. Why is that the Pakatan leaders can only talk but not deliver," he said.

The states under Pakatan rule are Kelantan, Kedah, Penang and Selangor.

Set varsity students free

Another delegate, Allen Lim Kah Lun from Sabah suggested that Section 15 of the Universities and University Colleges Act be repealed to give students of higher education institution more freedom to assemble and form associations.

He said this was necessary because they would be future leaders of the country.

Meanwhile, Melaka delegate Chew Wee Kian raised the issue of brain drain and graduates not returning to work in the country after completing their studies abroad.

He suggested the government needed to map out well-thought out policies to address these problems and also the awarding scholarships, which he said should only be given to the truly deserving.
