DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) should make a firm decision concerning the implementation of hudud law since PAS has made it clear that they would implement it in Kelantan and the country, if the opposition coalition wins the 13th general election, said Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the opposition coalition should announce their stand and not confuse the people by their uncertainty.

NONE "Now, what matters most is not where BN stands, but what other parties in the opposition coalition think. Prior to this, they said they did not agree to the implementation of hudud law, but PAS is firm on going ahead with the plan.

"This has affected the people who will have to think about this when casting their votes in the next general election," Muhyiddin ( right ) told reporters after delivering the keynote address at the "Joint Seminar Programme and Games for Malaysia and Singapore Public Sector Leaders 2011", in Kuala Lumpur today.

After convening a four-hour emergency meeting on Wednesday, the opposition coalition still failed to reach a consensus on the hudud issue.

Instead, PKR de factor leader Anwar Ibrahim was reported as saying that the hudud issue had been scrutinised and rejected because it was not in line with the federal constitution, the common policies of the opposition coalition and their Orange Book agenda.

Muhyiddin also urged Anwar, DAP chairman Karpal Singh and PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang to make up their minds and stop flip-flopping on the issue.

"So far, the only consistent person is Nik Aziz (Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat). Anwar, Karpal and Hadi should announce their decisions soon because everybody, including the non-Muslims, want to know their stands on this issue.

"It's better for the media to ask them so that they can explain all about it or make a statement and read it out loud," he said.

 Moon and stars

Commenting on the opposition's alternative budget scheduled to be tabled next week, Muhyiddin said he was confident that it would include the "moon and stars" like other promises made when the coalition was planning to set up an alternative government.

NONE The opposition coalition is planning to table its alternative budget on Oct 4, three days before Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is scheduled to table the 2012 Budget in Dewan Rakyat.

On the demand made by Malay right wing group Perkasa to have businessmen Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan and Mohamed Azman Yahya explain the meeting they convened with People's Action Party (PAP) senior leaders, which was also attended by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng ( left ), the deputy prime minister said it was up to the two individuals.

"I don't know what they discussed. Maybe, the meeting was held in Lim's capacity as Penang Chief Minister and since PAP is the governing party of Singapore, the meeting involving government's representatives must also involve those from PAP. It's normal.

"We shouldn't be too prejudiced. Maybe it was for mutual benefit," he said.

Yesterday, Perkasa information chief Ruslan Kassim urged the two businessmen to explain what was discussed at the meeting, which was held during a dinner on Aug 12.
