MCA chief calls on Tee Keat to resign

ONG: It's amazing that MCA chief Dr Chua Soi Lek and others from MCA cannot see that it was not MCA-BN that won Pandan in 2008. Rather, it was Ong Tee Keat's personality which 'stole' the Pandan parliamentary seat from PKR's Syed Shahir Syed Mohamud.

I also believe that Ong knows that it will be extremely difficult for him to ‘steal' the seat a second time as an MCA candidate, assuming that his party will still nominate him. Ong knows that Pandan voters have realised - much as they like and respect him - that voting for him is the same as voting for MCA.

Ong has already started the process of decoupling himself from MCA even though he is still an MCA member.

JusticeKini: Ong Tee Keat (OTK), whether the MCA president admits it or not, has good grassroots support. In his parliamentary constituency which he won, there are two state seats under it which were both won by Pakatan - one by PAS, the other by DAP.

He held on to Pandan where almost all other urban seats in Klang Valley fell to Pakatan Rakyat. Indeed, if OTK resigns and stands as a Pakatan candidate, he will win hands down.

Disgusted: OTK, take this opportunity and quit a deadwood party like MCA. You have a better chance of retaining your Pandan parliamentary seat under Pakatan.

You have been given the leeway so make your move. MCA is a sinking ship - it's time to bail out and do so without any regret.

Cala: Chua Soi Lek is a lot more cunning, crafty and sophisticated than Ong Tee Keat when it comes to dealing with someone whom you have defeated at the party polls for the number one slot.

But this time, obviously Chua has lost his normal composure, made possible under a barrage of attacks from Ong who incessantly accused the party of various weaknesses.

Between the two, my bet is still on Chua, despite his earlier sexual misadventure; something Jacky Chan of Hong Kong termed as "every man's deed".

But Chua knows very well that he should not have uttered such words given the kind of condition Ong is in. MCA as it is, is already weak, it can ill afford to open another battle front.

My Thor: Is MCA chief afraid of dissent? Why must Tee Keat resign when he voices out its weakness in the interest of the party?

As a former MCA president, Tee Keat dared to expose the scandal involving MCA leaders and Umno on the PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone) scandal, causing him to lose the presidential election.

Tee Keat is the last surviving member interested to rejuvenate MCA.

Freemsia: It is no secret that OTK opened a huge can of worms in starting the investigation of the PKFZ scandal. This put those Umno and MCA leaders involved in a difficult spot.

He also tried to reform MCA by getting rid of those corrupted MCA leaders and therefore ended up stepping on some tails. And because of his noble cause, he got voted out.

OTK, it is really time for you to leave your party. You are really not wanted in your party. Join Pakatan or go Independent.

Wira: Calling on someone to resign and yet not defining what he should be resigning from - this is the kind of fuzzy logic rubbish we get from MCA these days.

Perhaps Ong should leave MCA and take his supporters to Pakatan, just as Chua Jui Meng has done.

Boustead 'greedy' to ask land for compliance

My Thor: One wonders what 'hush hush' approval Boustead got during BN's time? Leniency is the word as Umno, the master, demands.

Boustead with its demand for compensation has tainted its corporate image and it now looks as another giant leech waiting to suck Penang dry. Once Putrajaya falls to Pakatan, so will all the GLCs (government-linked companies).

Black Mamba: There are many ways to play hard ball with Umno-linked GLCs. Boustead has interests in other Pakatan-ruled states. This will backfired on them eventually.

Anonymous123: Penang CM Lim Guan Eng is no difference from Koh Tsu Koon. Don't expect him to do something that will offend Umno for his own political survival. Lim can be classified as the most gutless secretary-general DAP has ever have.

Malaysian Born: The whole point is for the state government and commercial entities it deals with to behave and transact in an honest, professional and transparent manner.

If an agreement with the government has to be changed due to regulations, then there is nothing wrong in transparently working out compensation.

This nonsense about assuming a commercial enterprise must absorb losses is very damaging in the long-term as it means quiet behind-the-scenes arrangements will be made.

There is no free ride, losses absorbed have traditionally led to all manner of hidden deals. What the CM is doing is right and proper.

Wira: Umno-linked companies are creating havoc with the lives of the people and the economy of the state even after the party is relegated to the opposition bench.

Let this be a lesson to all on how the politics of patronage and cronyism can bleed a nation. Be wise in the next general election.
