Johol state representative Roslan Md Yusof passed away at the Tunku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah at about 4am today after suffering from possible lung complications. He was 58.

NONE He had been admitted to the hospital yesterday after complaining of breathing difficulties.

In 2009, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan came out to deny rumours that Roslan ( right ), who was from Umno, had died.

According to the MB, Roslan was on a month-long leave to undergo physiotherapy at the hospital after suffering a slipped disc following a fall during a badminton game.

He is survived by his wife Zawayah Marzuki, 53, and eight children between the ages of 17 and 28.

Roslan, a former teacher and Kuala Pilah Umno vice-chief, won the seat in the 2004 and 2008 general elections.

His remains were buried at Kampung Cabang Dua Muslim cemetery, Johol, after the Zohor prayers today.

Among those who paid their last respects to Roslan were Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan, state assembly speaker Razak Mansor and Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister, who is also Kuala Pilah MP, Hasan Malek.

Mohamad described Roslan’s death as a huge loss.

“We’ve lost a leader who was friendly to the people and respected by friends and foes alike,” he said.

There will, however, be no by-election as the Negri Sembilan State Assembly has passed two-thirds of its term. The vacancy in Johol will be filled at the next general election.
