Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah gave the ‘ Undilah ’ voter registration video the thumbs up - and went on to mock apparent attempts to ban the video from being broadcast.

Razaleigh, who gave the opening speech in the four-minute-38-second video, also gave the video the thumbs up when asked for his thoughts.

“Good!” he exclaimed.

He also explained that when the video producers interviewed him, he was not aware who the other participants were.

"I was asked to give a statement to call on the rakyat to register (as voters), especially the youth, and among the Malays, while the Chinese are registering by the droves. So I came forward to issue the call," he said.

Undilah is a short public service announcement, directed and scripted by singer and filmmaker Pete Teo, which recently caught the media limelight when it was pulled from being aired on mainstream broadcast networks.

Various explanations were given for the government instruction not to air the clip, from the presence of unhealthy " subliminal messages" promoting the opposition agenda in the video, to a scene depicting Premier Najib Abdul Razak in the likeness of Jabba the Hutt that was deemed questionable.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had explained that it could not be broadcast because it was not granted Censorship Board approval.

However, critics argue that it is an over-reaction from too paranoid a government.

Razaleigh and Deputy Education Minister Wee Ka Siong are some of several BN leaders featured in the video, alongside local celebrities and opposition politicians.
