Wangsa Maju Member of Parliament Wee Choo Keong today filed a motion for Private Members Bill to debate a proposal to increase the salaries and allowances of MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said the motion, which was submitted to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia at his office at Parliament House here, was to allow MPs to voice their opinions after the government withdrew the proposal.

NONE "The proposal cannot be withdrawn just like that. MPs have the right to discuss this matter because their current salaries are unreasonable... we need to take into account the work of the MPs too," Wee ( left ) told a news conference at the Parliament's lobby.

Yesterday, the government withdrew its proposal to increase the salaries and allowances of MPs following objections from four senior leaders of opposition parties.
