The Immigration Department has clarified that a man who was believed to have fallen to his death from the 12th floor of the Magnaville Condominium in Selayang yesterday was no longer its personnel.

Its director-general, Alias Ahmad, said the deceased was no longer a government servant or a staff member at the Malaysian Immigration Department.

In a statement in Putrajaya today, he said the man was sacked on May 10, this year for being absent from work.

Yesterday, newspapers reported that an immigration officer attached to the Damansara Town Centre in Kuala Lumpur, died after he was believed to have fallen from his condominium residence.

In the 7.45pm incident, Mohd Irwan Mohd Ishak, 29, was believed to have tried to leave through a window of the condominium unit to a nearby staircase when he slipped and fell to the second floor.

The victim was said to have refused to meet three commercial crime police personnel from the Seremban police contingent headquarters in connection with a cheating case.
