Keng Yaik down with pneumonia

Former Gerakan president Lim Keng Yaik could not make it to the party's Life Member Council (LMC) meeting today due to health reason.      

He was supposed to chair the meeting at Wisma PGRM, here, this morning.      

Gerakan president Koh Tsu Koon, who chaired the meeting instead, told the delegates that the veteran leader ( right ) was down with pneumonia and required treatment as well as ample rest.  

"I've spoken to him during the last three weeks and he asked me to send his regards to all members," he said before chairing the conference.      

Lim, widely known for his witty remarks, became the LMC chairman after resigning as the party’s adviser in October last year.      

Koh meanwhile told the meeting that the LMC, which acts as a special body to the party, currently has 231 members.      

He said the party's younger generation could benefit from the vast experience of the life members, thus closing the gap between the two generations.      

"This is a very unique feature which we must continue to treasure," he said. "They are a great asset to the party because some are party founders; in fact some are 'A' members - those who joined (the party) in 1968 - and they are still with us," he said.
