A four-wheel-drive vehicle belonging to the state Economic Planning Unit was clamped by Parti Cinta Malaysia national Youth chief Liew Yeow Hooi, using a chain after it was illegally parked on Light Street in front of the state assembly building in George Town.

The incident happened about 1pm today. When asked why he did it, Liew, who at that time thought the vehicle belonged to a politician, said it was “to teach politicians a lesson not to park their cars illegally which causes heavy traffic jams”.

He said he had earlier called the Penang Island Municipal Council to come and issue a summons to the vehicle after chaining the wheel, but left five minutes later when no one from the council turned up.

He left without unlocking the chain and placed a note on the vehicle  windscreen which read, “Don’t park your car wherever you like. Please show good example to the people.”
