Felda chairperson Isa Abdul Samad has not yet been officially appointed Felda Investment Cooperative (KPF) chairperson, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Maslan.

He said the post was currently held by Felda general manager Dzulkifli Abdul Wahab.

"Felda's general manager is the KPF chairperson, and he has executive power in various matters regarding Felda and its direction.

"Should Isa become the KPF chairperson, he would not have executive power, so no conflict of interest should arise," he said in reply to a question from Ahmad Kasim (PKR-Kuala Kedah) when wrapping up the 2012 Budget debate regarding Felda at the Dewan Rakyat here today.    

Ahmad Kasim had questioned about Isa being selected KPF chairperson, which he felt would create a conflict of interest.

Ahmad Maslan also said that Isa's appointment would be determined by the Felda Board of Directors, according to laws stipulated under the Cooperatives Act 1993, as well as KPF by-laws.
