A nurse believed to have been torched by her husband on Oct 17 succumbed to her injuries at Kuala Lumpur Hospital early today.

The hospital's spokesman said the 28-year-old nurse breathed her last at 4am.

Her brother, who insisted anonymity, told reporters that his sister would be buried in Bukit Payung, Terengganu later today.

The nurse sustained 80 per cent burns to the body and face in the freak incident believed to have been caused by jealousy.

During the incident, the 28-year-old suspect was believed to have poured petrol and placed a petrol bomb in the bathroom of their house in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur and waited for his wife to enter the bathroom before throwing a cigarette butt which sparked the blaze and caused an explosion.

The couple has two sons aged two and four.

The suspect has been remanded to facilitate investigation.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah when contacted said the police were in the midst of collecting evidence to determine whether the suspect should be charged of causing grievous hurt or murder.
