No one is listening to Ridhuan Tee
YOURSAY 'How do you describe a person who knowingly says things to hurt, to show defiance, and even knowing that it is illogical and stupid?'
Ridhuan Tee: Hudud has to be implemented 'by force'
1M:
"Qualifying his assertion, Malaysian National Defence University lecturer Ridhuan Tee Abdullah said this is because the ‘negative attitude' of non-Muslims towards Islamic law makes it unlikely that they will voluntarily accept its implementation."
Ridhuan Tee, settle this issue among yourselves, don't blame the non-Muslims whenever you cannot get things your way.
Go and find out from your fellow Muslims. You will be surprised that many of them have an even more negative attitude towards hudud than non-Muslims.
If you want to do it by force, do so, but leave non-Muslims alone.
Kristian: Kelantan exco for religious affairs Mohd Amar Abdullah is quoted as saying that Islam should be viewed as a way of life. Ridhuan Tee's vision of this way of life is one of compulsion and punishment.
Many Muslims the world over, after coming in contact with other societies and other religions, are leaving Islam, but a God who would be loved out of volition, not because Ridhuan Tee waved a big stick, is something Ridhuan Tee wouldn't understand.
Institutional Christianity was no better in past centuries. But contemporary Islamic culture is catching up.
From the sheikhs and emirs in the Arab world, to the mullahs in Iran, to ideologues such as Ridhuan Tee, your authoritarianism in God's name is being rejected by the Muslim masses. As in Christianity, Muslims are learning to discern about self-proclaimed authority.
Everybody will say he speaks for God and that God is on his side. There are many past and present actions by Muslims and Christians which, all done in God's name, are in reality a mockery of God.
Yusri: Ridhuan Tee, where in Islam were you taught to use force against others. Why did you convert to Islam? Were you forced to convert or was it because you love Islam?
Do not force others to follow your wishes. Just because you think it is right for you, it doesn't mean it is right for everyone.
Onyourtoes: No one is hearing him, so Ridhuan Tee has to come out with outlandish and controversial stuff to gain attention.
How do you describe a person who knowingly says things to hurt, to show defiance, even when knowing that it is illogical and stupid?
Jack Leong: Action speaks louder than words. Don't you all see the pro-Umno people are more extremist than the supposedly PAS Islamic zealots?
David Dass: Is the opinion of Ridhuan Tee not more objectionable than the views expressed by Universiti Islam Antarabangsa law professor Abdul Aziz Bari?
Aziz Bari has the academic credentials. What is this man's credentials? That he is a Chinese Muslim convert?
Is that why he enjoys some credibility in some section of the Malay/Muslim community? It is interesting that a Chinese Muslim convert has such radical views on what should be done about the enforcement of hudud law.
He has the effrontery to suggest that the hudud should have been forced on non-Muslims after the 1969 racial riots. What exactly is he suggesting? Is he seriously suggesting that the hudud should be forced on non-Muslims, even if that force entailed violence?
Should this man not be suspended, sacked, prosecuted? The Malay community should be careful about letting people like Ridhuan Tee take them, and the country, in a direction that could be disastrous.
Leongan: Ridhuan Tee, you are out-of-date to say that majority Chinese will pick a corrupt Umno over a principled PAS.
This was true in the 70s, 80s or even 90s - not now. Who are you representing? Which research has told you so?
Ferdtan: Are there no qualified Malay Islamic scholars from the 70 percent of the population of Malaysia that they have to rely on a half-baked unqualified Chinese Muslim convert, Ridhuan Tee, to talk about Islamic law?
Is it because no real Malay Muslim scholars dare, or are ashamed, to say what this Chinese man is now saying? It is convenient to get an outsider like him to say anything with impunity to divide the Malaysians - to further the cause of the ruling government politically.
If any statements from him backfired - it is easier for the government to disown him; or make excuses that he is not well-versed with Islamic principles as he is only a convert.
Lately Sinar Harian had taken over some of the sinister activities of Utusan Malaysia by having more skewed opposition-bashing news. This time it is organising a loaded controversial religious issue on 'Islamic hudud law'.
Passerby: Force is usually met by force. And this lecturer is employed by a publicly-funded institution?
How many minds have this toxic creature poisoned? And the civil society has to pay this fiend so that he can feed his family and his outsized ego?
It's better to use the money and help the poor. The world will not miss him and will be a much better place without the likes of him.
The only way to punish him and his ilk is to hurt his political and ideological master from which cesspool he was spawned - Umno and its silent sycophants MCA, MIC, Gerakan, etc - at the ballot box and everywhere else we can.
Cocomomo: God has no place for those who preach hate. Concentrate on educating the people on the government's corrupt excesses, including those highlighted in the auditor-general's report.
Keep hammering until the people get the message that the wealth of the nation/people is being abused and wasted away by the corrupt few.
