MCA Youth has accused its PAS counterpart of politicising social activities and causing damage to Malaysia's tourism sector.

Its secretary-general Chai Kim Sen was responding to PAS Youth's calls for Elton John's concert next month to be banned, alleging that the homosexual singer promotes hedonism.

"PAS Youth has been relentless at creating problems, and they seem to discriminate against the entertainment sector, especially when the performers are from Western countries.

"PAS Youth has also given many ridiculous reasons for protesting against the concerts," Chai said in a statement.

He chided PAS for trying to mixing politics with religion, and at the same time berated DAP for not keeping PAS in check.

"By protesting against the concert by Elton John, they have already encroached onto the rights of non-Muslims.

"The people have to protect themselves and the rights of the non-Muslims, and to help the country to move forward internationally, whereas DAP is unable to do anything on the decisions made by PAS," said Chai.

Pahang PAS Youth Leader Shahril Azman Abdul Halim Al-Hafiz had on Oct 25 called on the government to cancel the concert, which is to be held at Genting Highlands on Nov 22.

PAS has often protested concerts that the party accuses of promoting promiscuity and corrupting the young.

But despite protest threats, most concerts have gone ahead without incidents, though performers had to abide by rules such as barring them from baring too much skin and lewdness.
