The presence of Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) in Sabah will not affect the position and strength of the state Barisan Nasional (BN), Umno supreme council member Lajim Ukin said.

He said that based on experience, those who had been out of the country’s mainstream politics would find it difficult to get the support, except for in the case of former Sabah chief minister Datu Mustapha Datu Harun who made a comeback in Sabah politics in the 80s after the defeat of Usno in the 1976 state election.

Speaking to reporters after launching the Cooperatives Consultative Council for the Beaufort parliamentary seat in Beaufort yesterday, Lajim said Kita would have little impact on the state’s political landscape.

Kita was reported to be planning to contest in all 60 state and 25 parliamentary seats in Sabah in the coming general election.

“I’m not quite sure what is their purpose of contesting in Sabah. We already have parties from the peninsula which are supported by the people,” Lajim said, adding that the Sabah people are matured and able to assess the parties which they should support.
