Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) posted RM453.9 million net loss in the fourth quarter ended Aug 31, 2011 compared to RM440.2 million net loss in the previous quarter.

For the full year, the national power company registered RM499.5 million net profit as compared to RM3.2 billion in the last financial year, mainly attributed to higher fuel costs, it said in a statement today.

On a quarterly basis, its revenue rose 17.4 percent to RM9.120 billion, principally from the impact of tariff adjustment effective June 1.

TNB said the fourth quarter saw further deterioration in EBITDA margin due to higher power generation costs from utilisation of oil and distillate.

The impact of the tariff adjustment was not sufficient to cover the higher fuel costs in that quarter, it said.

For the full year, the group reported a 6. 2 percent increase in total revenue to RM32.206 billion.
