Abdul Raman, who suffers from a kidney ailment, died at 12.20am, about an hour after he collapsed at his home in Kampung Kedah in Parit Buntar, he added.
Mohd Jamil said Abdul Raman was found lying down in the bathroom by his wife Saemah Hussein and was rushed to the hospital.
Abdul Raman, who was a former deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, had returned home at about 11pm yesterday after attending a meeting of the Perak Umno liaison committee in Ipoh.
Mohd Jamil said Abdul Raman was buried at the Kampung Kedah Muslim cemetery this afternoon.
Abdul Raman leaves a wife Saemah, and six children, two of them sons.
Perak Menteri Besar Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, former deputy agriculture minister Mohd Shariff Omar and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairperson Abdul Rahman Sulaiman were among those who paid their last respects to Abdul Raman today.
