Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah today warned of firm action against government officers and staff found to have misused financial allocations or disregarded expenditure procedures.   

"To check irregularities, the government has established a checks and balances system whereby action will be taken against those involved in misappropriation.

husni eon bank function 120310 ahmad husni "This is necessary so that the guilty do not escape punishment and the irregularities are not repeated," he told reporters after opening the 1Malaysia Computer Centre in Ipoh.

Ahmad Husni said the government continues to practise accountability, which is evident from the recent Audit Report of the Auditor-General.

“The message to the civil service is clear; firm action has to be taken to enhance the quality, integrity and credibility of the civil service," he said.

As such, he said, the government has instructed all officers to list the issues raised in the audit report for further action.

            

Act against irregularities

Ahmad Husni said all ministries and agencies must prepare a report on the issues raised by the auditor-general and the government would review and evaluate the report and act against irregularities.

He also said that to further streamline the work system, the government would introduce a new system in January whereby the work performance of civil servants would be evaluated for promotions.

"This system also provides for civil servants who do not perform to be disciplined or sacked," he added.

At the event, Ahmad Husni presented 40 computers, donated by SME Bank, to 16 Mohd Radzif Mohd Yunus and Manjoi state assemblyman Nadzri Ismail were also present.
