Three people were sworn in today as senators, among them Malaysian Indian United Party (MIUP) president S Nallakaruppan.

The two others are Tess Innovations Sdn Bhd director Jaspal Singh and CLK Consultants Sdn Bhd director Chiew Lian Keng.

Nallakaruppan, 65, Jaspal Singh, 49, and Chiew, 47, took their oath of office before Dewan Negara President Abu Zahar Ujang at Parliament House.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin had consented to their appointments.

Jaspal is the MIC treasurer while Chiew is Federal Territory MCA Youth chief.
