The Home Ministry today denied that ministry insiders are able to speed up the amnesty application by employers for their illegal immigrant employees.

NONE According to its chief secretary, Mahmood Adam ( left ), claims made by an individual, who was claimed to have contacted several employers, that they can do so for a fee of RM350 are untrue.

“Using the individual’s services, the employers are said to be exempted from the interview process, when in fact this interview is mandatory before the approval letter for an illegal immigrant can be issued,” he said.

Mahmood added that approvals are also pending clearance from other ministries including the Human Resources Ministry, Health Ministry, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK), Agriculture and Agribusinesses Ministry (KPIAT) and International Trade and Investments (Miti) Ministry and Human Resources Department (JTK).

“As such, I urge all to be careful and not be fooled by offers by any individual claiming to know ‘insiders’ in the ministry, and to make a police report if they have information of such activities,” he said.

Mahmood added that has also carried out several initiatives since Oct 10 so that the 6P amnesty programme goes on smoothly, following complaints of delays.

He noted that Miti has also yesterday decided to lift the ban on male Indonesian and Indian workers from being employed in factories.

The ministries mentioned in a meeting yesterday also reviewed a proposal to lift the limit of foreign workers employed by private limited cleaning companies with a paid-up capital of RM100,000.
