VOXPOP 'Every day, Guan Eng is challenged by Umno and its cronies to deter him from stopping the corrupted practices in the past.'

Anger against Lim deflected at Seksualiti Merdeka instead

vox populi small thumbnail Jacob George: The present on-going, manufactured and fueled discourse is an embarrassment to every Malaysian.

The truth is the participants in their rhetoric forget that they are, as far as I am concerned, so intellectually challenged and stupid they do not see how totally preposterous the things they are saying and doing, which is hurting the image of Penang.

Manufacturing a crisis at each and every corner is not a silver bullet for political dominance and continued political hypocrisy, and certainly not moderation by any definition.

Bender: Obviously, Suara Anak-anak Malaysia president Mohamad Ghani Abdul Jiman is a tad smarter than Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali when it comes to basic math.

He did his math: compared to the 30 people at Komtar, he would rather show his face to a slightly bigger crowd at Kampung Rawa (70 is bigger than 30).

For Ghani, it's not really about the protest, it's about becoming popular and selling his face. Clearly he has to sharpen his skill further. The ability to draw some 30 people out to the streets is not so good, but it's a start. Good luck next time, Ghani.

1M: "But since I have become so famous in Penang, they used my name to invite the media. If they do not use my name, there is no oomph in the rallies," said Mohamad Ghani.

It has nothing to do with the media, Ghani. But in order to attract ‘mad cows' to the rally, they have to use the name of the most famous ‘mad cow', then only all other ‘mad cows' would come and join the rally.

My THOR: It is an open secret that the police had sanctioned Ghani, who is bent on creating chaos to disrupt the Penang government. Many illegal gatherings led by Ghani were escorted by police.

Every day, Penang CM Lim Guan Eng is challenged by Umno and its cronies to deter him from delivering and stopping the corrupted practices in the past, and yet he still stands tall.

Guan Eng, carry on. The people of Penang are with you.

Louis: Are the police asleep? Remember that you are paid with our hard-earned taxes and you have sworn to preserve peace in the country.

Now we have a ‘mad cow' running wild and threatening our peace time and again, would you think it is time to rope him in and put him behind bars?

This ‘mad cow' has gone over the limits many times and yet no action was taken. I guess the police have very high tolerant limits.

Solaris: Since this rally had been well-publicised before it took place (like Seksualiti Merdeka), the police should be pro-active in banning the event "to maintain public order". Or will they?

Onyourtoes: What is the reason for the protest, Ghani? Not satisfied with CM Lim can't be a good reason.

LGE (Lim Guan Eng) is not there to satisfy a bunch of lazy and good-for-nothing racists.

LGE can't give you licence and permit without merit; LGE can't give you handouts based on race and religion; LGE can't tolerate doing business by violating all the rules and regulations; LGE can't give you contract without proper tendering and procedures, and LGE can't simply spend state government money like his own.

Seksualiti Merdeka stops all public events

Malaysian Born: What I am most uncomfortable with the fact that certain groups are allowed to get away with making indirect threats and innuendo, effectively saying that violence and insurrection will come their followers if what they want does not happen.

What is the difference between this and the threats from gangsters, thugs and terrorists?

Give us all a break - what isn't a sensitive issue to these people? Everything is a drama and everything has to be an insult to them when in reality, it's none of their business.

I have a feeling there must be a large number of repressed homosexuals among them as they seem far too concerned and excited about this event.

Discrimination in Malaysia is in some cases near apartheid-like so it's not a surprise when these thugs, in the guise of defending their religion, are allowed to run riot with their homophobic sentiments.

Dood: The poster proclaiming "Semua agama tolak seks sejenis" is the one that I find the most amusing because isn't it true that "Semua agama tolak discriminasi"?

But hey, I guess a Perkasa member isn't the best person to be relying on the accuracy of religious beliefs, right?

The irony is that all the opposition and anger that Seksualiti Merdeka is getting from certain (bigoted) people just goes to further prove the need for efforts exactly like Seksualiti Merdeka - to free the people's minds from discrimination and bigotry.

One Brain Cell: Suddenly, I feel like Gulliver trapped in the land of demented Liliputians.

Are these ‘Malay-Muslim NGOs' for real - or just figments, I mean pigments, of Umno's erotic fantasies of eternal power and inexhaustible wealth?

You can't get more ludicrous than branding Bersih chief Ambiga Sreenevasan an antichrist .
