Malaysia may not snub East Timor independence leader Xanana Gusmao and Nobel laureate Jose Ramos Horta when they visit the country next month. According to AFP , Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said that government officials would try to arrange for Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad to meet with Gusmao. The meeting, if it does happen, is expected to be an uneasy one since Malaysia had staunchly supported Indonesia's invasion and occupation of East Timor. Malaysiakini reported yesterday that the leaders would be visiting Kuala Lumpur on Feb 7-9 as part of an East Asian tour.
