Gerakan gives Penang gov't an 'F' for non-performance

your say SusahKes: Gerakan may give LGE (Lim Guan Eng) and his administration an ‘F', but I wouldn't even ask Gerakan to take the examination.

You do that, and for sure they will fail, forever scoring Fs by not meeting voter expectation, similar to the days when Koh Tsu Koon was chief minister.

I'd rather give an opportunity to the man with an ‘F', knowing full well that this man will try to improve himself, as opposed to another who has to depend on his tuition teacher to help him through by leaking exam paper answers before he sits for the exam.

Gerakan never tried - in those years when Tsu Koon was CM - to pass the exams or even maintain discipline. They played truant while the school was run by the bully students from Umno.

And now that their rival classmate is getting glowing reports from investors and even the auditor-general, like a typical jealous child, they point their accusing fingers, but fail to realise that they were expelled from the school in 2008.

Wira: I am glad that Gerakan is giving Penang government an ‘F'. High expectation is good. I hope they would use the same yardstick to measure themselves and their partners in government.

What grade would they give PM Najib Razak for giving this nation a runaway deficit and committing the nation to our highest debt ever? What grade will they give ministers Nor Omar and Shahrizat Abdul Jalil for fleecing the public through NFC (National Feedlot Corporation)?

What about our defence minister for spending RM7.55 billion on APCs (armoured personnel vehicles) that can be bought at less than 20 percent of the amount proposed?

What about Ng Yen Yen, the traveling minister? Muhyiddin Yassin, the 1Malay DPM? Hishammuddin Hussein, the Bersih-bashing home minister?

Dood: These BN rejects are so cut off from reality that they are beginning to look more pitiful and sad than stupid.

Ask any right-thinking Penangite on the street to give the Pakatan Rakyat state government a grade and see what you really get. I can bet you that it won't be an ‘F'.

On the other hand, ask what they thought of Gerakan then as well as now, and maybe you might get your ‘F'.

Schroedervannutt: ‘F' is for fantastic, fabulous and famous - that's what Penang is since 2008 with numerous mentions in reputable international publications .

Penang under Gerakan? ‘Kosong' (nothing). If the Gerakan leaders want to do any good for the rakyat at all, please do something about all the wastage and corruption that has been reported by the auditor-general.

AkuMelayu: I would personally grade the Penang government a ‘BF' (braggart fools) for bragging about minute achievements to hide their monumental flops. But if you insist that Pakatan has done some good to Penang, I will agree. I however give greater credit to BN, and Gerakan in particular, for laying the foundation for what Penang is today.

There is nothing for the Penangites to be proud of. They don't even have capable leaders to lead the state but had to depend on this ‘pendatang' from Malacca.

It is very easy for Pakatan. Everything is presented on a silver platter by BN and Gerakan. All infrastructures are already in place. They just need to continue from there.

Lynn: AkuMelayu, don't talk about things you clearly know nothing about. Penangites are happy with Pakatan.

Sure, there are a lot projects still outstanding but the main thing is there is more progress in the state under Pakatan's three-year rule then there ever was when BN was in power. That is the real crux of the matter.

Pakatan brags because there is actually something to brag about. Umno and the other BN parties don't brag because a lot of their achievements are for their own crony/family and these clandestine transactions cannot be brought to light.

Wira: The biggest failure of Gerakan over the past 18 years after former CM Lim Chong Eu left the helm was to be condescending to a corrupt Umno, to the point that the land portfolio - traditionally the most important portfolio and one that is always held by the chief minister - was given to Umno.

After that, we see land alienation and cheap land parceled out to cronies sans tender. Kampung Buah Pala was a result of this irresponsibility.

Gerakan had their chance. Now, most Penangite would want them to disappear from their state, perhaps not to return in another 10 years (or another two terms).

VoteforChange: Based on what LGE has done in three short years compare to what KTK (Koh Tsu Koon) has done in, these Gerakan leaders should hang their heads in shame and shut up.

Yes, LGE and his team is not perfect but compare to KTK and Gerakan, he is far better. If KTK is so good, he would not be kicked out and have a durian species named after him for his ‘unique' character. That durian name is well-known to all Penangites.

On the sPICE project, there has been claims and counter claims, but it is best for the rakyat to judge. On the Kancil car park, isn't this project under the Tourism Ministry?

On the free Wifi, state Gerakan publicity bureau chief Dr Thor Teong Ghee was talking nonsense. Free to the public, but of course, the government has to pay.

Multi Racial: Gerakan is certainly making a mockery of themselves. Just ask themselves: Will giving the Penang Pakatan government an ‘F' help Gerakan?

Together with Umno and MCA, Gerakan gets to govern Penang since 1969, which is more than four decades. Comparing those years with just three years of Pakatan, most would not hesitate to say Penang under BN was badly managed - too much corruption and cronyism.

Maybe Pakatan deserved the ‘F' rating. Since everything is measure relatively, the BN government in Putrajaya should be rated ‘G' or many grades lower.

That is why I am surprise with Gerakan politicians. What strategy are they deploying? Surely there have to some smarter doctors around in Gerakan.

Observer of Johor: Indeed, the previous government had caused a lot of losses and irreversible situations. The previous government took 50 years to destroy Penang, how long do you think LGE needs to rectify those damages?

Malaysian 53: Gerakan grading LGE? This is like the worst student in a classroom giving grades to the top student in the school.

After being rejected by the rakyat and the party almost wiped out, Gerakan has the audacity to grade DAP? I don't have to say any more.
