A Muslim organisation has taken initiative to set up a shelter to protect cows, which considered as holy animals by Hindus, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

A mausolem of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti located in Ekalbara village in Vadodara, Gujerat will be the first organisation which has taken a lead in setting up a 'Gau Shala' or cow shelter for protection of cows.

Its spokesman Kadir Pirzada Sajjadanashin said such effort will enhance to strengthen the bond between the two communities.

"For this purpose, we have founded a trust for setting up the shelter on 1.75 acres of land in the village," he said, adding the village panchayat has unanimously passed a resolution donating the land to the trust.
