Don't the cops have better things to do?
YOURSAY 'It looks like Malaysia has only one type of crime - sex. And there is only one criminal - Anwar Ibrahim.'
Sex tape: Cops probe Anwar over 'false information'
Artchan: Guilty or not, BN, especially Umno, is alienating the rakyat with its "overkill" . Ask anyone on the street and you would know the people are cheesed off with the relentless persecution of one person but the massive corruption highlighted daily are not investigated at all.
Better amass as much wealth as possible and be prepared to flee the country. The people have enough of your rubbish.
Anoymous: I am working abroad and I had stayed away from Malaysian politics because I am sick of what is happening all this while.
But after today I am sure to fly back and vote for a change as it's just not fair that Umno is taking such an unethical approach to finish off an opponent like Anwar Ibrahim without end.
I might not be a politician to know what is happening, but it is obvious that a civilised Malaysian wouldn't do such thing that would shame all Malaysians abroad. Now I strongly believe we need a change.
Anonymous_3f1f: It looks like Malaysia has only one type of crime - sex. And it looks like there is only one criminal - Anwar Ibrahim.
The police have made up their minds that the culprit in the sex video is 100 percent Anwar and for that reason they are investigating him for making a false report.
What kind of logic is this? The police did nothing when we had a previous sex video because it so happened the offender is from the ruling government.
This is how our country is being ruled. We are definitely doomed with such people running the government.
Anonymous_3e8f: I'm sure there was a police report (unless it has been made to disappear like Altantuya Shaariibuu's immigration records) by the 15 year-old-girl who was allegedly raped by some important person.
Why not open that one up? It would be more interesting. Or some khalwat case in Port Dickson.
Yusri: Stop this nonsense at once. Did Anwar rape this woman and did the woman in the sex tape lodge a report?
BN, don't you have any other issues raise besides Anwar? I am not an Anwar fan but I am fed up with these kinds of stupid stories all the time.
BN is pushing us to vote them out this time. Don't the police have better work to do?
Ferdtan: If Anwar hadn't made any police report then all the mainstream media and the Umno politicians would have ridiculed him for being afraid to face the truth.
So left with no choice he made the police report, knowing well that the police somehow would use their power to hound him like a suspect.
The police had failed to prove Anwar was the 'actor' in the tape; and on top of that the Datuk Ts involved have now been charged for distribution pornographic material, so why are the police now investigating Anwar for false information?
This is a pure case of abuse of power by the police. The reputation of the police has hit a new low.
Milosevic: If Anwar is not guilty, he will eventually clear his name, and the BN will pay a heavy price for its unrelenting persecution. That the police are totally one-sided and have become instruments of authoritarian power has never been in doubt.
Malaysians and the rest of the world know of this decay of BN rule. We should never allow private sex matters to become a source of public inquisition. We need to strongly enforce the point that sexual matters between consenting adults is none of anyone's business, and the law should be changed with this in mind.
However, Anwar, because he wants the public persona of a devout Muslim, supports policing sexual behaviour. So he should not complain if his own sexual behaviour has been called into question.
If he is guilty, then he is nothing but a deceiving, hypocritical person, of which the public should be aware. If he is innocent, there will be serious consequences for this sorry government. The public deserves the truth.
Proarte: We have to be rational here. What choice did the police have other than to investigate Anwar for false reporting? It was Anwar who made a police report in the first place claiming defamation by the Datuk T trio who had implicated him in a sex video allegedly with a Chinese prostitute.
Subsequent police investigations including expert analysis of the video by world leading experts have concluded that Anwar was indeed the man engaging in the sexual acts. The police have no choice now but to ascertain whether Anwar is guilty of lodging a false police report.
After all, Anwar has made the very serious allegation that this was a high level conspiracy involving Umno or people close to them. The government too wants to clear its name.
Let us not forget that Shazryl Eskay Abdullah was Anwar's close associate who was captured on video with Anwar in insalubrious corridors of dodgy buildings for which no explanation has been offered. Anwar cannot lead Pakatan Rakyat if it is proven that he is a lying scoundrel.
Not Confused: Proarte, no convincing evidence has yet been submitted that proves beyond any reasonable doubt that it is in fact Anwar in the video. The whole presentation and subsequent actions by the trio, and now by the police, is both sordid and pathetic to say the least (and illegal).
You are clearly an unprincipled apologist for the sad and sorry Umno-BN regime which has now lost all credibility, not only with the majority of Malaysians, but also internationally. Their continued persecution of Anwar states beyond a shadow of a doubt that the current regime is running scared and will do anything to save their rotting skins.
Instead, BN cronies and their hangers-on continue to plunder the taxpayers hard-earned cash to support their lavish lifestyles as with the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) scandal that beggars belief, but is just the latest in a long list of such scandals over the past 50-plus years that BN has pillaged Malaysia.
That is all about to end - and I, for one, cannot wait!
Lim Chong Leong: By right Datuk T should be charged with the criminal defamation of Anwar, but no, Anwar is being investigated for making false report.
What Anwar did he had to do to defend himself against criminal libel, but he gets investigated instead. Which part of the report he made was false?
Jtfo: To date one sex video is still banned, where the actor looks 99.9 percent like an MCA president; on the other hand, in another sex video, it is out on the Internet, and Anwar gets called for questioning. In my view, this is really double standards.
Anonymous: When will the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) finally wake up and realise that if ever BN loses power and the corrupted turds have escaped the country with all the money they stole from the country, the PDRM themselves are the ones who would be left behind to pay for all these evil doings?
There is no reason to become BN's private police. BN does not care a single bit about the police at all.
Victor Johan: Thank you Umno-BN, you have given us another one of your 'winning at all costs' tactics. You have further sealed this utmost need for us to eradicate your parties from the face of our beloved motherland.
Pemerhati: The latest development again illustrates how nasty, dirty and unprincipled PM Najib Razak and Umno are. They first planned and implemented the sex video caper to discredit Anwar but it failed miserably despite their strenuous efforts.
The simple fact that sabotaged their evil plan was the fact that the Anwar lookalike in the video did not have a beard but newspaper photographs the day after the alleged incident showed a bearded Anwar!
Now these Umno lowlifes are harassing and persecuting him for defending himself against their orchestrated scurrilous attacks. You can't help but feel absolute disgust and revulsion against such horrible and evil people.
Wira: Umno is bankrupt of ideas of how to win the next election so they have to rely on sex issues, as is what former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad had taught them in 1998. Stop them before they bankrupt the nation.
2cts Worth: Umno, have you forgotten that you have a country to govern?
