The police are in the process of calling up several more witnesses to testify regarding the ‘Seksualiti Merdeka 2011' programme and will wrap up the investigation soon, said deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.

Previously, the police had record statements from 50 people, including the organisers, supporters and participants of the banned programme.

Those who have given statements are former Bar Council president S Ambiga, women's activist Maria Chin Abdullah and executive director of Tenaganita, Irene Fernandez.

On Nov 3, police had banned the 'Seksualiti Merdeka 2011' after a spate of police reports were lodged against it for allegedly promoting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual issues.
