The High Court in Kuantan today fixed Dec 12 for mention of a case involving a trader charged with murdering French tourist Stephanie Foray.

Senior assistant registrar Rini Triany Muhamad Ali fixed the date in chambers as the chemistry and DNA reports on the case were still not ready.

Asni Omar, 36, is being charged with killing Foray, in her 30s, at an unnumbered house in Kampung Tekek, Pulau Tioman between 8pm on May 10 and 12 noon on Aug 12 this year.

He faces a mandatory death sentence if found guilty under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Deputy public prosecutor Khalmizah Salleh prosecuted, while Asni is represented by lawyer Ibrahim Kamaruddin.

Foray, from Bour-en-Bresse, was reported missing since May 8.

The Malaysian police launched an investigation following a report lodged by her family through the French embassy in Singapore, and found that Foray had gone to Pulau Tioman on May 10 and had not left the island since.

Further probe into the case led police to the discovery of human skeletal remains buried 3m deep in a cave at the village on Aug 8.
