Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai said today that he will be meeting Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dr Mary Suma Cardosa over the de-registration of the association.

Expressing his concern over the de-registration, he said he was only informed about it yesterday.

“I am not aware of the details but I will be meeting the president of MMA today.

“I will look into it and see what is the real problem,” he told reporters after opening 'Pusat Komuniti Kesihatan Mental' at the government quarters in Precinct 11, Putrajaya.

It was reported today that the MMA was de-registered following alleged irregularities in the running of the organisation as well as in the election of its office bearers in May.

MMA had been issued a show-cause letter early this month and the MMA had given its reply.

ROS senior assistant director Desmond Das Michael Das was quoted as saying that the MMA had clearly violated certain laws and that was why it was de-registered.
