Selangor 'afraid' to dissolve assembly, claims Umno
The Selangor government is "afraid" to dissolve the state legislative assembly simultaneously with the dissolution of Parliament, said Umno supreme council member Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi.
The Selangor government is "afraid" to dissolve the state legislative assembly simultaneously with the dissolution of Parliament, said Umno supreme council member Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi.
According to him, the state government did not have sufficient time to garner full support from the people in the state.
"The Selangor government needs more time to continue its deception and I see three years as insufficient.
"In its entire administration of Selangor, there were not many big buildings which gave positive impact. In fact, there were many more election promises of the last election which have not been implemented till now," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after opening the Pontian Parliamentary Outstanding School Awards at the Dewan Sultan Ibrahim today.
Mohd Puad was asked to comment on Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's recent statement that the Selangor State Assembly would not be dissolved if the federal government dissolved Parliament in January, next year for the 13th general election.
Abdul Khalid had recently said Selangor would only dissolve its assembly if the election was held in July, August or September next year to ensure that the 2012 state budget was more effectively implemented.
Mohd Puad, who is also deputy education minister, said the PKR government in Selangor was not focused in caring for the people's welfare in the state as it was always looking for weaknesses in the federal government.
Also present at the ceremony was Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan, who is also Pontian member of parliament.
