Terengganu has been hit by floods following heavy rain overnight, with two districts affected and more than 20 people evacuated this morning.

A spokesman of the National Security Council in Terengganu said 22 people were moved out from Kampung Merbau Menyusut in the Setiu district at 8 am after their houses were flooded.

The spokesman said Hulu Terengganu district was also hit by the floods and several residents of Kampung Kolam Ajil and Kampung Telaga were evacuated to relief centres.
However, it is not known how many people were moved out from these two villages.
The levels of several major rivers have risen and the people living along their banks have been advised to be on the alert for floods.
A spokesman of the Drainage and Irrigation Department said the level of Sungai Nerus at Kampung Langkap was 22.14 metres, above the danger mark of 21.5
metres.
The level of Sungai Telemong in Kampung Paya Rapat was 21.2 metres, breaching the warning mark of 21 metres, and that of Sungai Calok Setiu had risen to 8.57 metres, higher than the warning mark of 8.5 metres.
Terengganu is currently experiencing heavy rain.
