Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kits) will not field candidates in the Pekan and Pagoh parliamentary constituencies held by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, respectively, in the next general election, party president Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said today.

He said that though Kita wanted to bring change for the people, it would only field candidates in constituencies where it had a chance of winning.

“This means we will not field candidates in Pekan or Pagoh,” he told Bernama when contacted.

“Change for me means not a new prime minister or a change in the administration. If the BN (Barisan Nasional) adopts a more open and more democratic policy, it will have our party’s support. What we want is for the people to benefit from the change,” he said.

Zaid said Kita would announce its candidates in stages and would focus on constituencies where the electorate was not happy with its representatives.
