The MCA central committee today resolved to provide a RM100 cash handout to all party members age 60 and above as a token of appreciation for their contributions.
Party president said the 300,000 party members will be eligible to receive the RM100 handout and a plaque.
“It is a token sum to appreciate, and to say thank you to them,” said Chua.
Should the project be simple to implement, the party might decide to turn it into an annual handout.
“This is the first time that we have decided to do this. We will see the response and if the process can be implemented in an orderly manner.
“If feedback from all the branches is good, then why not?” said Chua in a statement late this evening.
Meanwhile, the central committee also resolved provide a RM200 handout to all MCA members or their wives for a newborn child.
The handouts for the senior members would be overseen by MCA secretary Tee Siew Kiong while the handouts for new born babies will be led by party Deputy president Liow Tiong Lai.
