Gov't has no plan for automatic voter registration

vox populi small thumbnail MyMsia: Allow me to get straight to the point - BN is afraid of Malaysian youths who are all aware of the real situation through the alternative media and most likely will not vote for them.

It's the same story for Malaysians studying or working overseas. So please don't give stupid reasons why automatic registration cannot be done.

Oscar Kilo: What nonsensical logic from this minister. Voter registration and updating of addresses are two different things.

Whether or not a voter registers his change of address is up to him, but automatic registration will save the government a lot of effort. It is the voter's problem if his address is not updated. Dooh!

ForTruth&Justice: The high mobility scenario also applies whether you have normal registration or automatic registration. Can't you find a more creative answer that is more believable?

Ferdtan: His excuse of high mobility rate will cause the the low turnout of voters on polling day - does not hold any water.

It can still happen in the present voting registration system as many have shifted out of the old addresses, and are reluctant or cannot find the time to re-register their new addressees.

With this bill (Peace Assembly Bill 2011), another cancer is going to set foot, and if allowed it will ravage this country to the ground. Malik, we're hoping for people like you and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa law expert Abdul Aziz Bari to help put a stop to this.

When the time comes we will also do our part and boot these ‘lembu-lembu' out.

Anonymous: I was told that it is almost impossible for BN to lose the next GE (general election). The logic is that even if they lose all the constituencies with a non-Malay majority in West and East Malaysia, it will only come to 46 seats. This is not enough.

The battle therefore is for the Malay votes as well as the interior seats of Sabah and Sarawak. I believe East Malaysia is where we might have a chance. We must do all we can to show our utter disgust at the lack of integrity in the tabling of this new repressive bill.

The constitution grants us peaceful assembly; street assembly is always peaceful until the police come to disrupt everything.

Well, Umno has every intention to call for the GE before the PSC completes its tasks and the bill is meant to take the wind out of Bersih. Shall we go ahead nonetheless?
