Win over people with facts, Umno Youth told
Umno Youth vice-chief Razali Ibrahim today advised party leaders and members to win over the people by explaining what the BN government is doing for them instead of harping on the weaknesses of the opposition.
Umno Youth vice-chief Razali Ibrahim today advised party leaders and members to win over the people by explaining what the BN government is doing for them instead of harping on the weaknesses of the opposition.
"Let's not only harp on these (opposition) issues to garner the people's support. We have to explain what we are doing, such as the economic transformation initiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, so that the people will endear themselves to Umno and the government," he said.
Razali, who is deputy youth and sports minister, said they should not use issues such as the alleged statement by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that Johor was unsafe and PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu's alleged idolising of communist leader Mat Indera who had led the attack on the Bukit Kepong police station.
Party leaders and members have to think how they can convince the people that they still need Umno and the BN, the Muar Member of Parliament told a news conference after officiating at a mass circumcision at the polyclinic of Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, Muar.
Some 170 boys between the ages of six and 12 in the Muar parliamentary constituency attended the mass circumcision, organised by the MP and Muar Umno Youth.
Razali said Umno leaders and members must give priority to the people instead of focusing on party positions and electoral candidacy for themselves.
"They must not do anything which can turn the people away from Umno in disgust. Only then will the people endear themselves to us," he added.
