S'wak governor's tenure extended by two more years
Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng has been reappointed as the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak for two more years from Dec 5.
Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng has been reappointed as the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak for two more years from Dec 5.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin presented the instrument of appointment to Abang Muhammad Salahuddin in a ceremony at Istana Melawati in Putrajaya.
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and chief secretary to the government Mohd Sidek Hassan were also present at the function.
Abang Muhammad Salahuddin, 90, was first appointed as the sixth Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak in 2001, taking over from Ahmad Zaidi Adruce Mohamed Noor who died in 2000.
