The flood situation in the east coast states is reported to be returning to normal, although several parts of Kelantan remain submerged in flood waters since only four evacuation centres in Pasir Mas and Tumpat are still open.

Roads that were closed to traffic in Kelantan were accessible today for all vehicles while all flood relief centres in Terengganu were closed as all evacuees had returned home.  

A state flood operations spokesperson said the number of victims has dropped to 497 people from 126 families.

He said water level in Sungai Golok, Rantau Panjang has dropped to 9.78 metres albeit still at the dangerous level of nine metres.

Floods in Kelantan has so far claimed four lives, including a two-year-old, boy.

Meanwhile, three victims who were reported missing earlier - identified as Mohd Alif Rizuan, 15, (went missing while bathing in a river in Machang), Mohd Azman Yusuf, 17, (went missing in Sungai Golok) and Mohd Farid Mohd Yusof, 20, (went missing in Pantai Kuala Pak Amat) - are believed to have drowned.
