Malaysia's industrial output in November rose 11.7 percent compared with a year ago but fell four percent from the month before, the Statistics Department said today.

According to previously published figures, October industrial output was up 11.3 percent on the year and 4.9 percent on the month.

In November, manufacturing sector output grew 14.9 percent from a year earlier, electricity output was up 1.7 percent while mining rose 1.6 percent, it said.

The month-on-month decline in November industrial output was due to a fall of 7.4 percent in electricity and 4.3 percent in manufacturing, with a small increase in mining output of 0.1 percent, it said.

For the 11 months to November, the Statistics Department said industrial output was up 8.8 percent from a year ago, supported by growth in all sectors. - AFP
