Herd mentality in Wanita Umno over Cow-gate
YOURSAY 'Umno delegates must be blind or plain stupid not to see the massive corruption practised by their top leaders.'
Hard-pressed delegates want Shahrizat to explain NFC
Don't Be Cowed:
I am truly amused yet shocked by some of these Umno delegates, especially those from Umno Wanita.
They are so naive as to believe that Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is not involved in the scandal and to believe the police's preliminary report that no CBT (criminal breach of trust) had been committed.
I hope PM Najib Razak will put this ‘winnable candidate' to stand again in Lembah Pantai against Nurul Izzah Anwar, if he dares.
No wonder, the transparency/graft index continues to slide - our ranking today is the worst in 10 years . Well, it seemed that Najib government is even worse than Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's when it comes to corruption.
Vijay47: I am glad that Umno delegates view Shahrizat as a winnable candidate for the forthcoming general elections.
Bring her on, Umno, bring her on. We hope she does not decline to stand in order to "give way to younger blood". To demonstrate how formidable she is, Shahrizat must of course stand in Lembah Pantai where a young girl will be waiting for her.
This young girl, who is four years older now, is more mature, more capable, more knowledgeable, and is quicker on the draw.
We are all just dying to see the showdown. Shahrizat, bring along your husband and your children in your election campaign.
Fairnessforall: What do you mean that this is all slander? Do you know what slander means? It means Shahrizat's family did not purchase the condominiums, the Mercedes and plots of land in Putrajaya using the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) money.
But in this case, we all know those items were purchased, so how can you claim that this is a slander as if those things did not happen. There is proof and Pakatan Rakyat has provided it.
The only way Shahrizat can get out of this is to show evidence that those items above were not purchased using NFC money and if so, reveal where her family had obtained so much money.
If she can't do that, then this is a clear-cut case of corruption and misuse of public funds.
VoteforChange: My Australian friend said it is cheaper to import beef than to import cattle. Australian cattle can't survive in Malaysia's hot climate.
If Shahrizat's husband has no knowledge of breeding cows, why take up the venture? The soft loan is rakyat's money not BN's. The person who approve the loan must also be held accountable.
Ferdtan: Shahrizat's controversial NFC scandal has clouded the real issues of Najib's 'election year' Umno AGM, making it one of the most unmemorable Umno meetings.
The Wanita Umno chief's issue is on every Umno members' lips. And since there were no courageous Umno leaders to confront the issue directly, they missed the chance to show to the rakyat that they meant business when they talked about fighting corruption.
It proves the point (which surprises no one) that Umno would never take any punitive actions against one of their kind.
This is clearly a slap against Najib's rhetoric: all his statements about 'best democracy', accountability and his KPIs (key performance indicators) are 'bollocks', to say the least.
Change Agent: Umno members are not naive - they want to know how to avoid future leakages of such scandals and tell more lies to the public at large.
You see, everyone is in it - they are all in the same queue, some will never get there but it's worth the wait. After all, where can they go to ‘cari makan'.
Onyourtoes: Can you see the baloney of this whole episode - look, it is not how the issue is handled. It is whether or not the issue is real or a slander. It is not whether you explain it closed-door or in the open.
Are you saying if it is closed-door, it is more acceptable even if the embezzlement is real? Also, if Shahrizat goes down to the grassroots to explain, what difference would this make? Are you saying if she meets the voters, the wrongdoing would be more acceptable?
Are you saying Umno grassroots are gullible nincompoops and that so long as the minister comes a-calling, everything will be forgiven?
Put it this way, Wanita Umno has no tenacity and resolve to do the correct thing. They are just apple-polishing and appeasing their bosses in return for some favour in the future.
One more thing, can Umno stop talking about putting up winnable candidates. Since when was there unwinnable candidates put up for election?
In fact, this episode, if true, goes beyond Shahrizat. Her husband must account for all the transactions, both legal and illegal.
The Finance Ministry and Agriculture Ministry too must explain how the loan was dished out, how the disbursement happened without any monitoring, and how the objective of NFC was sabotaged beyond recognition.
Going after Shahrizat alone is in fact a diversion.
JBGUY: Umno delegates must be blind or plain stupid not to see the massive corruption practised by their top leaders. Unless, of course, if they are also given certain kickbacks to look the other way.
Shahrizat is guilty and if they can't find a leader devoid of corruption to stand for elections, then that tells you that Umno has no clean candidates.
Lover Boy: The Jerantut and Teluk Intan delegate did the right thing by asking Shahrizat to go and explain to the grassroots. However in the same breath, they said the opposition had slandered her.
This is typically an Umno mentality aka cow herd mentality. Hello, if it is slander, Shahrizat should sue the opposition. After all, the deputy IGP has made it clear that prima facie, there is no corruption or CBT .
By not taking action, she is already pronounced guilty by the court of public opinion.
